This legendary path, starting near the town of Spezia on the northwest coast, connects the five villages of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia,Riomaggiore and Manarola .It can be walked in either direction, personally I preferred starting at Monterosso, but if you have no transport it is easier to begin in La Spezia. Until a century ago the Cinque Terre, also known as via dell'amore (love path), was this area's only thoroughfare besides the sea.

Created in 1922, Europe’s first national park and the world’s second after Yellowstone National Park in the US, the Gran Paradiso has come to symbolize how man and nature can interact without negative consequences. Home to the ibex, Europe’s largest Alpine animal, this mountain goat can be seen grazing high above the valley floor on most walks. Its smaller cousin, the Chamois, is also a permanent member of the park, so is the Royal Eagle and the Marmot.
